Dream Home Plans
So back in 2009 as the NBE land deal was starting to come together we began to design a home. Since our plan was to get all the permits (especially septic) before we actually bought the land, we would need the plan to get the septic spec'd for Marion County Health and Hospital approval.
Holly did some research into home designers and had a short list. On that list was Nathan Weiss of McGiniss Design Group. We had spoken to a home builder and when we mentioned Nathan as a possible designer, they knew each other and Nathan was recommended by not just him but a second builder as well. We had our guy!
I've heard friends say that they didn't like the design of a home but we loved it. It was so cool to sit down and discuss what kinds of architecture we liked, different designs we'd seen and liked, exactly what aspects of other houses we wanted or didn't want. Every couple of weeks we'd return to Nathan's and see how he took our ideas and turned it into a design. This home is truly ours!
What did our Dream Home look like? Here's the front view:
Finished Basement with a future bedroom for a parent if needed. The basement will start unfinished.
The abandoned 3.5 acre lot in Wanamaker with septic and our home. 2-3 acre pond was immediately on the lower side of the lot.
At the end of the whole ordeal, I was convinced that this was as far as my home plans would ever progress:

Yeah, I'm an Engineering nerd!
