Mike and Vince
On Saturday May 14th, Holly’s sister Heather married Vince Williams at St Joan of Arc on Indy’s north side. The night before, I missed the rehearsal dinner when I stayed home with the 3 girls and attempted to get them down to bed on time since they wouldn’t get a nap on the day of the wedding.
About a month ago I popped a jump drive into my computer to back up a file. On the drive was the collection of photos that Heather and Vince had put together on a loop that showed during the rehearsal dinner. Well since I had missed the evening I figured I’d take a look. On that slide show was this photo:
The young boy in the middle is Vince. The man on the left is our builder Mike! My jaw about hit the ground! I sent the photo to each of them asking if they knew the other.
Vince replied: “The Gorman’s are long time family friends. Great people. Really cool they're building your house. Know that you've got an honest guy building it for you.”
Mike replied: “We have been family friends with the Williams’ for a long long time - my wife and Vincent's mother Marsha have been best friends forever. They lived in our neighborhood when Vincent was growing up and all through high school and college. Connie and I were at Vincent's and Heather's wedding!”
In the last post I mentioned that Holly and I met Mike in May of this year. May 21st. Exactly 1 week after we all attended Heather and Vince’s wedding together!
I believe things happen for a reason. Sometimes it takes prayer and time to figure it out but all things serve a purpose. The previous failure to build in NBE was for a reason, 2 years later we would find a great builder to build our home. Not building on RFW-30 was for a reason as well, there was a much better piece of land out there waiting for us! That's for the next post though.
Here’s my plug for Mike: www.gormanhomesinc.com
