Week 15

We're at week 15 of what was to be a 20 week process.  Time has really flown!

Well apparently Vectren finally was able to do something; the gas line was ran from the street, however they still didn't get the line tapped into the main.  I mentioned in the last post that there would be a front retaining wall.  The block was laid this week.  Next week it will be poured with concrete and will then be ready to have the brick front added.

The drywall has been skimmed and taped, and they are ready to texture the ceiling, but the heat (gas) must be turned on first.  The brick is 2/3 completed and the stone is well under way.  Holly and I are really liking how the stone, brick and the two exterior colors blend.  We're particularly happy with the finish of the stone.  As I have discussed in a previous post, we looked at homes all over Indianapolis before we found it and it was worth the trips!

Plan for the coming week is to finish the drywall and prime the interior walls and to deliver the cabinets and interior trim.  Home should be locked this week so no more neighbors can tour the inside.

Also this week we got our current home on the market.  First house on the street this season!

We're getting awefully close to those two trees.  They are beautiful trees and I'm sincerely hoping they  make it through this build.

The front walk will be backfilled up to where the block and stone meet on the house.  The curving retaining wall will be filled with concrete and faced with the same brick as is on the rear of the house.

I thought this looked like some interesting brick work and wanted to post a photo of it.  Too bad some of the other bricks are cracked.
